| The expansion of the ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute enables Pocono Medical Center to address the number one killer in America: Heart Disease. Area residents no longer have to leave the county to receive heart and vascular testing and treatments. The expanded Institute provides all of the care patients need on one site, close to home. The combination of our new Emergency Center and our new comprehensive cardiovascular program, including the full interventional cardiology service has already had a most positive impact on our ability to save lives. The ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute is now in full operation; we are not only able to diagnose patients and help them rehabilitate, but we also have the ability to treat patients on site who enter our ER with acute cardiac events. Staying on site means quicker treatment times, which leads to better patient outcomes.
